2017 Quello Grande

Blend: 50% Sangiovese – Dogged Vine Vineyard, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon – Grassini/TTT Vineyards, 18% Merlot – Carhartt Vineyard, 8% Petit Verdot – Curtis Vineyard.

Nose (aromas): red cherry, fennel root, violets

Flavor (palate): black raspberry, tobacco leaf, dusty cocoa,

Winemaker’s Notes: This wine is always a winner, and the 2017 vintage is no exception. Still youthful in the bottle, yet totally ready to drink. I think over the next few years, more savory herbs will reveal themselves, resulting in a regal, finessed wine. Pair this with something flavorful such as a summertime spicy ratatouille, or step it up with braised lamb shank ragu over your favorite pasta. Let it breathe upon opening: 20-40 minutes!

Ageing Potential: Now – 2030+

Additional Notes: This “Super Tuscan” is modeled after the great Sangiovese/Bordeaux Blends in the Bolgheri region of Italy. The Sangio brings in beautiful red fruit and acid, while the Bordeaux varietals give immense seriousness and structure. It will age beautifully!
