2018 Grenache

2018 Grenache – 60% Carhartt Vineyard, 40% Riata Oaks Vineyard – 14.5% abv

Nose (aromas): hibiscus tea, red cherry, rose petal

Flavor (palate): candied red apple, pomegranate seed, five-spice 

Winemaker’s Notes: Brooke’s favorite wine, this light-bodied, elegant Grenache is a bottle you can pull out for almost any occasion. The mix of fresh florals with inviting spice is mesmerizing. Sip it with a nice Manchego cheese and herbed crackers, or pair with any of Brooke’s favorite comfort foods: vegetarian flatbreads, oven-roasted veggies, cedar plank salmon, or Asian chicken with plum sauce!        

Ageing Potential: Now – 2031

Additional Notes: Our style of Grenache tends to be on the lighter side in a world context. Although this is a serious wine with beautiful structure, we like to keep it a bit more lean and pretty, maintaining acid and freshness. After a few more years in bottle, the figurative “flower” opens up and this wine will really show itself. After almost a decade in bottle, freshness will still be present, but savory qualities will reveal themselves as maturation continues.
