2017 Mourvedre

Curtis and Riata Oaks Vineyards, Santa Ynez Valley – 14.6% abv

Nose (aromas): dark, black cherry, wet stone, smoked clove and nutmeg spice

Flavor (palate) : wild blackberry, black pepper, herbal underbrush

Winemaker’s Notes: Because of the earthy component inherent in Mourvedre, we love to pair this with equally earth driven dishes. Try mushroom risotto with fresh parmigiano-reggiano cheese, oven roasted or smoked game birds, or anything with truffle oil!

Ageing Potential: Now – 2030+

Additional Notes: If you want to dive deeper into the world of Mourvedre, visit a local wine shop and inquire about the Southern Rhone region of Bandol. It’s one of the few places in the old world still producing straight Mourvedre and Mourvedre dominant blends!
