2017 ZINFANDEL – La Vista Vineyard – Paso Robles – 15.1% abv – 125 cases
Composition: 100% Zinfandel
Nose (aromas): Berry preserve, rum cake, orange zest, white pepper, nutmeg
Flavor (palate): Baking spice, tart cherry, graham cracker, bramble, salinity. With a nice balance of both acidity and tannins, the wine finishes with length and finesse.
Winemaker’s Notes: Try this Zin with any type of meat, including duck breast with cherry reduction, or any type of poultry. It will equally do well with a vegetable Indian curry, or even bbq’d salmon tacos with a spicy salsa!
Ageing Potential: Now – 2023
Additional Notes: We like to think our Zinfandel is a little different than the rest. We try and pick earlier to preserve the varietal’s fresher flavors, and not allow the wine to get “over-ripe.” In the winery, we employ less extractive techniques to keep this wine in the medium tannin and medium plus acidity range.
